SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

There are 41 hours of instruction per week in High School. Approximately 21 hours per week are taught in English and 20 hours per week are taught in Khmer. This ratio changes slightly, depending on the grade.

 

LESSONS TAUGHT IN KHMER

ZIS is approved and licensed by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport. A Cambodian government curriculum is applied for lessons taught in Khmer. Khmer textbooks published by the Ministry of Education are utilized. Experienced Cambodian teachers succeeded in helping students achieve a 100% pass rate on government exams last year.

LESSONS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH

The English curriculum at ZIS is designed to provide an international education. The syllabus shares the same qualities as various international curricula and is delivered by experienced, motivated, and highly-qualified staff. The school strives to develop the confidence and self-esteem of students by encouraging them to excel in an extensive range of areas. Throughout their time at ZIS, students are offered an opportunity to increase their knowledge; much of this is academic, but important life skills are introduced for the students to reflect on as well.
